Tan Yu Fan/Women and Work

The first main point of the article is that women are gradually dominating the work force.

Secondly, when women are working they would have difficultly juggling between work and taking care of their children.

Lastly, there are programmes and laws that make life easier for women

I agree with the author that women are dominating the work force, however, it is not necessary that they would be unable to juggle work and bringing their children up well.

It is evident in Singapore's case where most office going women have children who are doing well in both academics and their emotional growth. Singapore government has also implemented policies such as baby bonus, maternity leave and child sick leave for working mothers so that they would have no problem juggling between work and taking care of their child.

  1. I feel that not only women have to take care of their chidren, men also can do the job. I agree that the government's policies have helped people in juggling between work and family but I think that if the men and women are able to plan their time properly for their children, it would also help in having more time for their children.

Bao Lin, I agree that men have to stop conveniently placing the responsibility of raising children on women.

Working fathers should also realise that they too carry 2 portfolios: that of an employer and a father. Governments should also realise that.
