Hello 10S416!

1. What kinds of media portray a certain stereotypical image of women, particularly young girls?
2. What is that certain stereotypical image?
3. The documentary only shows 1 reaction to this image: imitation. What other reactions could youths have when confronted with the 'midriff'?

What is that certain stereotypical image?
ReplyDeleteAs shown in the documentary, that certain stereotypical image is the kind of girls with pretty faces. What I mean by having pretty faces are those who beautify themselves for others. They present themselves very likeably to boys and also girls. For example, the girls will wear the types of clothes that bare their most of their skins like abs, legs and shoulders. Why? It is because that way, it will appeal more to the boys as you know they have a stronger sexual desire than girls. Similarly, the other girls will tell themselves that they have to look like those girls so as to have boys and others having interest in them. To such girls, having boys having interest in them, will give them the confidence to appear infront of others. These girls are also deprived of being the center of a crowd. They think that having a great body, which is defined as having nice body contours, is a must and the key to success of being a superstar. In actual fact, I think they're just going towards stardoom instead.
Syahirah, that's exactly right. =)

perhaps you could ask yourself, why? Who told them that they should be like this? that this is 'pretty'? that they should be sexy?
