Are Youths really not interested in Politics?
To me, Politics mean things and affairs that only involve around the government and the policies made. However, now I kind of knew that they are different types of Politics in the world. Not only those kinds of Politics which young children would not be able to understand or be interested in, there are also Politics that are around us in our daily lives that we would encounter. Politics are anything when there are two sides of arguments on an issue.
Youths are interested in Politics because they are also engaged in Politics in their daily life and they are actively involved in Politics in their own ways. For example, Youths are involved with different Politics like equality, selection of their own student councilors and even arguing with their friends because they have different stands on an issue. Youths are also actively giving their opinions, complains and suggestions on Facebook and Twitters. Therefore, Youths are interested and involved in Politics in their own ways. Youths could also be stating out their views and doing more research on some Politics when they are debating on one side of an issue or a view. Therefore, Youths are interested in Politics.
Youths are also not interested in Politics in some ways. Youths are not interested in globally issues because they are not infected by those changes directly. So they are not interested in what is happening in the world or their country’s policies. Therefore, we normally do not see all Youths reading many newspapers and interested in the government’s talks. Youths also feel that studies are the most important things to them now and they could just catch up on the Politics later on. However, when they have finished their studies, they are not Youths anymore and they most likely have some difficulty in some subjects or situations because they do not know their country well. However, not all Youths are like this as most Youths already know the importance of knowing their surroundings well. So Youths are generally getting interested in Politics. Hence, Youths are still interested in Politics.

I do not agree totally with you that youths felt that politics is not as important as academics. I guess youths are not interested in politics because they are not exposed to the overview of politics and get involved in politics. Youths in some countries, like Singapore, do not need to worry about the government policies because they know the government will make the right choice for them. They do not need to worry. I guess the lack of involvement in politics make the youths feel that politics is dry and boring. Hence, the youths are not interested in involving in politics.

i agree with your post that youths are generally not interested in global politics as i am one of them. however, i know that as i grow older, i would be more involved in these issues. Also, from your blog post, it changed my view of politics from a narrow governmental politics to any argument with a two sided view.
