Rabia/China's youth:Shaping the future.

"These 'little gods' think only of themselves."Would this apply to Singaporean youths too?

Yes.I think that this statement applies to Singaporean youths too.
After implementing the 'one-child' policy, couples in China are restricted to having only one child per couple. This was done in order to control the country's population. As couples have a single child, they tend to shower their only child with love and affection.Being the only child in the family, the child may not know how to give in,co-operate and put other's welfare at its place and think. Thus, they may only think of themselves. And since, their parents would have bought them all their needs and wants, they are considered as "little gods" as they get whatever they want.

This context applies to Singaporean youths too as parents, these days tend to have only one child due to many different reasons. These reasons may be due to the cost of living, financial cost of bringing up a child, lifestyle of parents and so on.As their parents have the financial means of buying their children all their needs and wants, kids do not realise the importance of sharing.Without realising themselves, they become stingy and tend to think of themselves only.

Rabia, while it makes sense, your argument is loaded with many assumptions. does it apply to ALL parents and children? could you give me evidence to support your point? always go back to the PEEL structure =)
