Ong Mei Ting/To what extent is Singapore a family-friendly society?
Singapore may be a family-friendly society because the government implements schemes to help families. One way would be aiding families financially through schemes such as Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) scheme. This helps families with lesser incomes to give education to their children as the education costs increases. However, this may not necessary prove that Singapore is a family friendly society because not all families would be able to benefit from it. An example would be the FAS scheme because rich families may not be able to apply from the scheme. Hence, Singapore is not a family friendly society as only a small proportion of the society can be benefitted from the scheme due to the small proportion of low income families in Singapore.

I agree with your point that FAS is indeed an family-friendly policy that is implemented.
ReplyDeleteHowever,an increasing no of families are aware of the scheme and thus more of them are taking such incentives up.
